Contradiction

When the abscess clears it reveals
A heart that has wandered off,
A cavity in her chest
Hollow, like an empty tomb
But the monster lives within,
Condemns her to lie by omission.
Her inquisitive mind is habitually
Dismayed by what pulls forward
She loves in circles
And always comes back to him
With earth-kissing footsteps
Back to the roots
An old government of flowers
Pulled out by the stems.
